WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

Local anaesthetic is applied on to the treatment area, after which the area is treated. Immediately, small circular brown patches known as carbon crusts will appear at each treatment point due to the carbonisation of the tissue and in the case of wrinkle treatment, the area will show some immediate contraction.

The complete procedure takes around 45-60 minutes depending on what treatment you require and the number of areas treated. Typical recovery period is between 5-10 days. You should be able to fully resume your everyday routine and social commitments within a few days, although there may possibly be more severe swelling depending on the area being treated and your reaction.

WHAT ARE THE PRE/POST CARE PROCEDURES?

Pre-care

Please advise your practitioner of any medication you may be taking.  You must tell us if you are taking Antibiotics, blood thinners or Isotretinoin. We also need to know if you suffer with cold sores. You may not receive treatment if you have active infections or open wounds on the area for treatment.

You must be prepared to take time off work. After treatment, you may be swollen for several days. It will be noticeable you have had a procedure and we suggest you plan accordingly for this.

After care

Aftercare is as important as your treatment. If you do not perform good aftercare your results will be severely affected.

  • Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided for the first 48 hours.
  • Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure and tanning beds). If some sun exposure cannot be avoided, first apply sunscreen with an SPF30 or greater. Sunscreen (with at least an SPF of 30) should become a part of your daily skin care regimen as your skin will become more sensitive to the sun as a result of this treatment. Avoid tanning of the treated area until the skin returns to normal. Failure to do this may induce pigment changes (darkening or lightening) of the treated skin.
  • If you have undergone micro-plasma tightening of eyelid skin (blepharoplasty) a cold compress may be applied intermittently for the first 48 hours as well as Cebelia LCE Balm. This will help to reduce swelling. Do not apply solid ice as this will freeze and damage human tissue.
  • For all treated areas do not apply adhesive plasters to, or cover, the treated skin. Removal of such items may also inadvertently remove healing skin cells and thereby slow down recovery.
  • DO NOT apply any solution containing alcohol to the area. Clean as necessary using water. If soap is needed use only non-perfumed, non-colored soap, for example, Cliniccare Cleansing Foam. Pat dry (DO NOT rub) with a clean towel.
  • Tiny crusts (carbon crusts) will form on the skin of the treated area. DO NOT remove these. They will fall off between 5 and 20 days post-treatment.
  • Until the crusts fall off and any redness has disappeared you may apply foundation makeup, such as Cliniccare Dermo Corrective Cream SPF50, to protect the treated area from any type of light including sunlight, indoor lighting or even computer screens. When the crusts have fallen you can begin to apply a moisturiser beneath foundation makeup. We recommend that you only use a breathable cover-up, for example mineral makeup. Please consult your practitioner for product recommendations.
  • Do NOT apply any type of glycolic acid or exfoliation products as this can severely damage or irritate the skin during the entire healing process.
  • DO NOT peel, rub, or scratch your skin at anytime, whatsoever. This WILL cause damage and compromise your results as well as possibly cause severe scarring.
  • Please report any concerns to your practitioner as soon as possible.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It utilises micro-plasma technology which involves the ionisation of gases, present between the device and tissue to be treated, to create a small electrical beam called a plasma arc. This arc vaporises the superficial layers of the skin, which stimulates the instant contraction of skin fibres giving an immediate tightening and lifting effect to the area and promoting skin rejuvenation.
The treatment is performed to an extremely accurate target, without damage to the surrounding or deeper structures of the skin.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

This will be dependent on a number of factors including age, area being treated, skin condition and damage. In most cases you will only need 1 - 3 (no more than 4) treatments, generally spaced between 4 - 12 weeks apart.
